The Nerve

I think of all the pain yet unsuffered
And I can’t, I can’t breathe
The lies untold, the lies undiscovered
The secrets underneath
I fear that sorrow will come while I sleep
While I’m not there to fight it
I’ll wake tomorrow and there it will sit
By my bed uninvited
I’m calling on the Devil and his hounds
There is not near enough spit in my mouth
To hate you like you deserve
I’d make your blood come out in fountains
And your voice in agony sounds
If only I had the nerve
As I rise up erect
To shield and protect
The fragile inner creature
You’re trying to dissect
I can feel her, the whore
Climbing up from my core
I hear vultures where fairies had chanted
And chanted before
Don’t look so pleased
You think you’ll be missed
That you will be remembered?
That you’ll exist
Long after you’re dead
Like an insect in amber?
For not one minute
After you’re gone
And your body lays rotten
I’ll dance and sing
On the top of the world
And again on the bottom
I’m calling on the Devil and his hounds
There is not near enough spit in my mouth
To hate you like you deserve
I’d make your blood come out in fountains
And your voice in agony sounds
If only I had the nerve
I can feel her, the whore
Climbing up from my core
I hear vultures where fairies had chanted
And chanted before
